Vacation Policy

Intent

The West Egg Group Corp. understands the importance for its employees to have personal time off. Employees are encouraged to use their vacation time for rest, relaxation, and personal pursuits. As such, the purpose of this policy is to explain the standards, guidelines, and procedures for vacation time for all employees.

Entitlement

Employees of The West Egg Group are entitled to ten (10) vacation days after 2 consecutive weeks of work up to 5 years of employment, employees with 5 or more years of employment with The West Egg Group are entitled to fifteen (15) days of vacation per year. 

Employees of The West Egg Group are paid vacation pay on every hour earned at each pay period. Employees with 1 – 5 years of employment are entitled to 4% vacation pay and employee with over 5 years of employment are entitled to 6% vacation pay. 

Any days used will count against the employee’s entitlement to vacation under the Employment Standards Act, 2000. This leave is paid and any days not used may not carry over to the following year. If an employee takes a portion of a day as a day under vacation, The West Egg Group will consider the employee to have taken one full day of that leave.

Eligibility

Employees who have been employed for a minimum of two consecutive weeks may take vacation under the following circumstances:

  • An employee makes the vacation request through the Humanity App; and
  • An employee provides a minimum of 7 days notice for 1 day of vacation; or
  • An employee provides a minimum of 14 days’ notice for 2 or more consecutive days of vacation.

Eligibility for and use of vacation shall have no effect on the employee’s entitlement to any other protected leave under the ESA.

Excessive Vacation Time

Employees who request vacation time over their entitled number of days will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
